The Week that Was

It's Sunday night, and I almost can't fathom the past week.  I was down with strep throat, knocked down like I haven't been in a long time.  Knocked down so hard that I had to call in sick on TAX DAY.  I work in a tax and accounting firm.  That is bad news bears!  Then I missed work on Thursday because we had to get everything out of the old house for the carpets to be cleaned on Friday.

Between Thursday and Saturday, I got all of my stuff moved from the old house.  It's done, and it kicked my butt.  After unloading the last load at 9:30 last night, then having to drive to town and return the U-Haul and stop at Fred Meyer to buy Easter basket stuff with the rest of the last-minute mom brigade, I was ready for a break today.  I'll tell you what, those other several moms and I were pretty punchy trying to scrounge for Easter candy at 10:30 pm last night.  It was rather funny.

So, we did Easter baskets.  The kids ate tons of candy.  Then spazzed out.  It was entertaining, and then it was trying as the sugar wore off and they fought.  Brothers.  They play together so nicely, but they also fight like cats and dogs.  Danny does things just to set Sam off, and Sam plays victim it's just... well, it gets old sometimes.  By the time they went over to E's house for their weekly visit, I was really ready.

I ended up at Barnes and Noble.  Just browsing.  I wanted a new book.  I looked and looked, in every section.  Just waiting for that something to catch my eye.  Finally.  I know they say not to judge a book by its cover, but just look at it!  I fell in love with it, and I knew it was coming home with me.  I went out to dinner by myself.  Pizza.  Mmm.  Read my book.  Relaxed.  Now, I'm home watching the season finale of Scandal (which, of course: !!!?!?!!  That shot of Fitz in the oval office on his knees?  PERFECT.) and just feeling this immense relief that this week is over.

It's over.  I feel like I'm just steps away from being there.  Somewhere.
